Duolingo English Test
Windows 11, a working webcam and microphone, and a stable connection. The Duolingo app also uses your smartphone as a second camera during the test — bring your phone with the Duolingo app installed, the laptop alone isn't enough to sit the test.

TOEFL iBT Home Edition
Windows 11, a working webcam and microphone, and ETS's ProctorU equipment check. External headsets aren't allowed — use the laptop's built-in microphone and speakers, which ours are tested against.

Do you need a laptop for IELTS in Pakistan?
No. IELTS in Pakistan is taken only at a British Council or IDP test centre, on a computer the centre provides, so there's nothing to rent. If you want an English test you can take from home, Duolingo and TOEFL Home Edition are both available in Pakistan and the options our laptops are pre-tested for.
Common questions
What does the Duolingo English Test need from my laptop?
Windows 11, a working webcam and microphone, and a stable internet connection, plus a smartphone or tablet as a required second camera (a second laptop isn't allowed). Our laptops are pre-tested against the Duolingo proctoring app's device check.
What does TOEFL iBT Home Edition need from my laptop?
Windows 11, a working built-in webcam and microphone, and ETS's ProctorU equipment check passed before the test starts. External headsets aren't allowed — you must use the laptop's own microphone and speakers, which is exactly what we test against before dispatch.
Can I take PTE Academic at home?
No. Pearson has discontinued online/at-home testing for PTE Academic, so it's taken only at a Pearson test centre on their computer, and you don't need to rent a laptop for it.
Can I take LanguageCert Online on your laptop?
Yes, pre-tested against LanguageCert Online's system check — for study applications, not UK visas.
